The Queen's Speech

My privilege to be able to self-quarantine and not have the thought of if anyone I know will contract from COVID19, nor having to worry about if I might contract it myself. It feels like the rest of the world is actually dealing with the problem, I only benefited from this. More time to catch up with school and work on passion projects, Having the freedom to plan out my day however I want and sleeping in. I am humbled to be reminded of how difficult it is for the rest of the world, enough that the Queen who in the last 68 years has only spoken to the people four times, delivered a 4-minute speech on how Britain is dealing and will deal with the COVID19  pandemic. On April 1st out of the 600 adult patients of Maimonides Medical Center more than 80% had contracted COVID19, with radiologists having to help out on the front lines and the patients ranging from the age of 30 - 80, the virus does not discriminate.

The most practical and efficient way to prevent the spread of the virus is through isolation, which should lead the majority of people to want to stay inside and take the necessary precautions, yet each day governments are having to create new bans on social activity as people simply refuse. To follow the simple tasks of staying home, specifically the people privileged enough to have their income barely interrupted by the virus. The ones with the ability to stay home without worrying about rent, or health-related trips they can no longer attend and if they’ll survive the next suppose two years it will take to be relatively safe from COVID19.

I digress, as maybe since it's not directly impacted the majority of those able to use the media or are relatable to the general public, it's hard to think that it could actually happen to oneself. Countless times I've been reminded that this is a very serious time yet it still doesn't feel like something to be things prudently about. Yes, I will still wash my hands often and social distance, and minimize all contact with anyone else, but I don't think I would, without having to consciously think about the danger of it, worry if someone I know will have the virus. Essentially the world is falling apart but I haven't felt alive sine 2013, and the world was already doomed with or without a virus.

So far, from whatever inconsistent jumble of writing voices I have been using. The overall gist of this entry is that there is a lack of worry for what is to come as the virus had barely peaked, and 2020 will be marked as one of the most chaotic years we’ve had so far. Still, I would like to end on the positive bearing of this time, We will learn to be more appreciative of what we have, and most likely spend more time in nature and with friends and family. There will be improvement regarding health regulations and better precaution and preparations in case of a future outbreak. This is summed up by the Queen as she said during the speech “I hope in the years to come everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge,” and that “We will be with our friends again, we will be with our families again, we will meet again.”
